What is an iPod battle?

An iPod battle is similar in spirit to a break-dance or DJ battle, but with a lot more crowd interaction. It is a musical tournament that puts eight teams in competition, with the mission of seducing the crowd and make them go completely nuts by charming them with their music selection.
Teki Latex, from french hip-hop outfit TTC, invented the iPod battle, where 2 teams compete by plugging in their iPods and trying to outplay each other with their track selections.
The first team has a mere 2 minutes to get the party started with their track of choice, before giving way to their adversaries.

Your team will go head to head against another team, taking it in turns to play a song of your choice to the crowd. Teams play 3 songs each before the referee steps into the middle of the ring with an applause meter held high; the team that elicits the loudest cheer from the crowd moves on to the next round. It's sudden death.

So it will go like this:

Team 1 plays a song for two minutes.
Team 2 plays a song for two minutes.
Team 1 plays a song for two minutes.
Team 2 plays a song for two minutes.
Team 1 plays a song for two minutes.
Team 2 plays a song for two minutes.

It's a classic case of one-upmanship. While the tunes rule supreme, showmanship also plays a massive role in rousing the audience. Crazy costumes, sexy or not-so-sexy dance moves get the crowd's attention and keep them engaged even if the song doesn't quite hit the right spot.
